How I Teach

What one needs to make art is the desire and curiosity to look and to record what one sees.

The way I teach is to move people through a clear set of exercises that shine a light on different technical aspects of art making.

There is enough structure so that students feel safe learning something new. There is enough freedom so that students can express what is true and deeply felt for them.

What I Teach

I teach drawing, painting, and sculpture to individuals and groups of all ages.

I lead group classes and workshops in schools, community centers, and conference rooms. I teach private lessons in my studio, in people’s homes, and outside in the landscape. And I lead art events or parties. I also lead retreats.
